Skopje, 13.06.2025 The Joint Stock company for performing energy activity natural gas transmission NOMAGAS JSC Skopje in state ownership has successfully increased its capital value through the conversion of the claims of the Republic of North Macedonia on the basis of paid claims towards foreign creditors into a permanent deposit.
This important step, carried out at the initiative of NOMAGAS and with the support of the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources, represents a strong foundation for the successful operation and further development of the gas infrastructure as well as for strengthening its position within the European North-South energy corridor.
“With joint and coordinated efforts, success is inevitable. By adopting this law, the state has demonstrated its commitment аnd contribution to the development of gasification in North Macedonia.”
The decision is based on two clear principles – increasing the operational efficiency of NOMAGAS and ensuring the financial stability and solvency of the company.
This measure comes at a crucial moment, immediately after the successful commencement of works on the gas interconnector with the Republic of Greece, a project of strategic importance for the regional energy connectivity.
For NOMAGAS, this represents yet another confirmation of its commitment to meeting European standards for natural gas transmission system operators.
“With the adoption of this law, the solvency of NOMAGAS JSC Skopje has increased, ensuring the smooth operation of the natural gas transmission system operator to continue developing the national gas pipeline system in the Republic of North Macedonia, with the aim of supplying the economy, the public sector and households with cheap and environmentally friendly energy, while simultaneously reducing harmful gas emission into the atmosphere.” Through these activities, NOMAGAS confirms its role as a driving force in the energy transition and the integration of North Macedonia into the regional and European energy market.
