NOMAGAS proudly marks this historic moment – the construction of the gas interconnector that will connect North Macedonia to the regional and European natural gas network has begun.
This strategic project, whose preparations began back in 2016, is now becoming a reality.
Under the leadership of the Executive Director Muhamet Elmazi, NOMAGAS is leading this key national mission with a clear vision: strengthening the energy security, stability and competitiveness of the country.
The gas interconnector, with a total length of 66.7 kilometers, stretching from Gevgelija to Negotino, will provide an initial capacity of 1.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year.
This infrastructure will not only provide cheaper, more reliable and more stable gas for industry and households, but will also bring true diversification of energy sources and a permanent connection to the European energy network.
“This project is very significant and it is of strategic importance for North Macedonia. It brings security, efficiency and stability in supply, while also positioning us as an energy hub in the region,” said Director Elmazi.
The interconnector is technologically ready to respond not only to current energy challenges, but also to future demands for green, clean and sustainable energy, in accordance with the highest European standards.
The project is being implemented with particular attention to environmental protection and the long-term energy security of the country.
